GO GO GO ON THE SPEEDWAY!

As some of you might know, Dale Jr is my favorite drive in NASCAR. He finally got him a win this year breaking a long dry spell. He is now closing in on second in the points. Now that he has got one out of the way, expect him to win many more this year and contend for a championship. To honor him, I am going to watch one of his favorite Elvis movies tonight, Speedway.

The Elvis Conspiracy(alive in 85)

I can't remember exactly when I first learned about Elvis. I can remember being very small and my mom talking about Memphis and Graceland. I had no idea though what Graceland was, Elvis did no register to me really. I can remember the fallowing video. It was from 1992, I would have been nine years old. I had an idea of Elvis by then, but this was my first real memory of learning something about it. It is a shame it had to be something like this. I don't really remember anything about the show other then he was suppose to be alive and I remember the two pictures of Elvis above the stage. They scared the hell out of me! Don't ask me why, I just remember it did.Check them out in the corners at about 42 seconds into the clip. I think it was the mood set by the show and the odd crap on there, whole thing was not right. I can't believe Bill Bixby took part in this. As we all know he stared in two Elvis movies, Clambake and Speedway. Anyway here is a clip of the The Elvis Conspiracy(alive in 85) from 1992.

SPEEDWAY!

Tonight I have been watching the movie Speedway. Elvis would start filming the movie sometime in the middle of 1967 and would be released in the summer of 1968. This would be Elvis's twenty-seventh film. He played the part of a race car driver named Steve Grayson. He has a manager who he trust with all his money that is not very good had handling it. He in turns gets into trouble with the IRS. A agent comes to break the bad news and set them on a payment plan that leaves them strapped because the have such a huge debt to the government. Along the way Steve had tried to help out people in need, but his manager had got that stuff on credit. When the government came in, they took it all away from them. So Steve had to go win races to help not only himself and his manager but all the people he helped out. Along the way Steve falls for the female agent form the IRS who is played by Nancy Sinatra. In the end Steve wins a big race to help with the bills. As usual Elvis also get the beautiful girl. I really do enjoy this movie a great deal. The soundtrack has a few good songs on it as well. I would rate the the movie and soundtrack both middle of the road, but it is definitely worth owning and watching over and over again. Then again I think all Elvis movies are worth watching over and over. I also really enjoy Bill Bixby in the movie. He is really good and interacts with Elvis well. Of course I love Nancy Sinatra, she is great. peedway would gross about 3 million for the last part of 68 and rank #40 on the list of top grossing films. A little bit better then some of his later movie roles, especially for the amount of time it was out in theaters for the year. It is worth saying that this is Dale Jr's favorite movie along with Clambake. Now enjoy the Speedway trailer movie below then go watch this movie.

DOLL OF THE WEEK

Nancy Sinatra is the doll of the week. She appeared in the movie Speedway with Elvis in 1968. Nancy was waiting for Elvis the minutes he stepped off his plane at McGuire Air Force coming home from Germany. She was the official greeter and was there on behalf of her father supposedly. She also appeared on the Sinatra special Welcome Home Elvis. She was very fond of Elvis and thought a lot of him. Most people say they defiantly hooked up while shooting Speedway. From what I understand it got pretty hot until she found out Priscilla was pregnant. Things with Elvis came to a halt then. She then threw a baby shower for Priscilla. I have never been a huge fan of her music. I thought she was pretty damn hot back in the day, and still is a very nice looking lady today. She also seems pretty damn cool from what I have seen and read about her.
